We all use hangers every day, but for the most part they are fairly unattractive. Why not spruce up at least those in your entry closet and instead of being a utilitarian eye-sore they can become a joy to use and behold!
You can use any plastic hanger you have on hand. Lay it over a piece of paper (I taped two pieces of typing paper together) and trace around the outside edge of the hanger, not including the hook area (fig.A). Add 3/8" (1cm) around all edges for seam allowance and cut out your pattern piece.

Fig A.
Use your pattern to cut two pieces of fabric and two pieces of batting.
If you want to make a nicely scented hanger, then you'll also want to cut out a small circle or square of fabric in a matching or contrasting print. Sew this piece of fabric to the right side of one of your hanger cover fabrics, but before you sew it completely closed stuff it with a bit of dried lavender. Now place the batting on the wrong side of each hanger fabric and baste close to the cut edge along the bottom straight edge. Position the fabrics right sides together and sew together using a 3/8" (1cm) seam. Leave the top open where the hook will go and also leave the bottom straight edge open.
Clip the corners and curves and turn the cover right-side-out. Poke the hook of the hanger up through the opening you left. Pull the sides down over the sides of the hanger. Pin the bottom closed over the hanger and hand stitch it in place with short, even stitches. That's all there is to it! Now you can have a nice-looking closet that smells great, too, in no time at all.
*note* You could also make this project with wire hangers, but I would suggest first glueing some satin ribbon over the hook and then covering the rest in fabric. It will make your finished hanger much prettier.
