I always get a little thrill when autumn comes around. The cooler, darker evenings are a good reason to pull out candles and create a cozy atmosphere. This is a nice way to dress up your everyday tealights so they seem a little bit more special.
I used wire that I had on hand so I don't know what gauge it is, but it's not too difficult to choose one that will work. Just make sure that it bends easily yet still feels somewhat sturdy. You'll want to use an aluminium crochet hook as the wire could damage wooden hooks.
First, string 135 beads onto the wire.
Chain 4 and join with a sl st
Row 1: ch 3 to count as the first dc, work 17 more dc into the loop and join with a sl st to the top of the ch3 (18dc)
Row 2: ch 3 to count as the first dc, 2 dc in next dc, *1 dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, repeat from * all the way around and join with a sl st at the top of the ch 3 (27 dc)
Rows 3-6: ch 2, sc in each dc around and join with a sl st at the top of the ch 2 (27sc in each row)
Row 7: ch 1, slide 5 beads down to the hook and ch 1 more, *insert the hook into the next stitch yo and pull up a loop, slide 5 beads down to the hook, yo and pull through the two loops on the hook completing a sc, repeat from * all the way around, join with a sl st at the top of the ch 2.
Cut the wire and finish off. Weave in the end of the wire. Insert your tealight to check the fit. Depending on how you handled it while you crocheted you may need to form it into shape a bit.
