Cut off a piece of wire about 6" (15cm) long. Fold it in half and slip a seed bead, or other small bead, over both cut ends. Slide it up toward the folded end, leaving a bit of a loop in the wire to use for hanging.
Next slide your "head" bead over both cut ends. (To make the hair, wrap thin wire around a toothpick to make curls. Then wrap the curls around the main wire under the first seed bead before putting the head bead on.) Cut another piece of wire about 4"(10cm). Wrap that wire around the first wire under the head area leaving long ends on each side to use as arms.
Slide the "body" bead over both cut ends of the first wire. (If your body bead has a large hole, slide on one additional bead that has a small hole and is smaller than the body bead, but not so small that it will slip inside of it.) Now you should have your body complete with two wires sticking out of the neck area for arms and two sticking out of the body area for legs (fig.A).
Thread smaller beads on each of the wires until you have the arms and legs the length you want. Use a larger bead on the ends for the hands and feet. On the last bead, thread the wire through, bend it back over the bead and wrap it around itself a few times to secure.
To attach the heart bead, wrap a thin wire through the heart and the body bead a few times, then twist the two ends of the wire together. Cut off the excess wire, leaving about ½" (1cm) to tuck up inside the body bead.
These little charm-ing people charms can be worn on a necklace, used as a zipper pull, added to the top of a gift package, or attached to a card that you can send to brighten someone's day. The possibilities are endless!
