It's Like the Song, but Not Really
by Tisha Sharp
Reality in movies, now that's an oxymoron. Many big screen characters have one dimensional histories, predictable personality flaws, and storylines made for an after school special. Read more.
Why Equilibrium Knocked Me Off My Feet

I don't usually watch movies on a whim. I rarely start watching something as substantial as a movie when I am channel surfing. But one day I was flipping along and saw Sean Bean riding along in a white car. I paused for a moment because, hey, it's Boromir, and then there was a long shot showing a futuristic city. Read more.
Napoleon Dynamite, American Hero

I live in a pretty sheltered little world.
I like to think the best of folks most of the time and am pretty gullible. I also trust too easily and am an easy target for practical jokes or tricks. Read more.
Harold and Maude: The Movie That Screams Serenity

I had no qualms about my movie choice for this issue of Mosaic Minds. I wasn't sure why, but I knew I had to review the cult classic Harold and Maude, the 1971 movie directed by Hal Ashby. Every time I thought about other movies that touched on serenity, my brain would not be deterred and kept pushing Harold and Maude to the forefront. The movie deals with the two title characters: Harold, who is obsessed with staging pretend suicides in the hopes of getting his mother's attention, and Maude, a free spirit who is unconcerned with the pesky rules of society. They keep meeting at strangers' funerals and once Maude steals Harold's car and offers him a ride, their friendship (and romance) is inevitable. Read more.
Art Imitating Death: The Tragedy of The Crow

The Crow is quite possibly the best Halloween Movie Ever. In addition to being completely bad-ass from the first frame (even the children in this movie could knock you flat), it also carries the stigma of real-life tragedy. Watching this movie is like trespassing into a condemned house on a dark and stormy night. The hairs on my arms stand up. I wasn't sure about all the details of the incident associated with the movie, so I decided to do some research about the tragedy before writing the review. Unfortunately, the mystery surrounding the tragedy only grew! I became quickly frustrated and confused due to the lack of consistent information about the death of Brandon Lee. Read more.
Not All Treasure Is Silver And Gold

Why The Pirates of the Caribbean is Priceless
Before I begin my review of The Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, I want to address those folks out there who might think I am a little obsessed with this movie. I mean, just because I have watched it more than my wedding DVD doesn't prove anything. Just because my New Year's Resolution was to work a line of dialogue from the movie into my lunchtime conversation every day at work doesn't mean I am obsessed. Read more.

My Thoughts on The Day After Tomorrow
When I was in eighth grade, my science teacher told our class about the rapid climatic shift that takes place on Earth every 10,000 years or so, causing ice ages. I was absolutely fascinated by this idea and remember mentioning it to some acquaintances years later, who promptly called me crazy for believing something like that. So, to all of those who doubted me, I'd just like to inform you that The Day After Tomorrow is about a sudden climatic change on Earth brought about by global warming. This change causes many catastrophic weather conditions and weather anomalies which ultimately lead to a new ice age.
