Creative Writing - Poetry - Kindred Spirits
by Sandra C. Herbert
You just want to
bust out
scream out
ball out
But this life
of habits
and everyday ritual
keeps you chained
and tied tight
So you smile
politely when
shaking hands
and pretend
that the
grinding doesn't
shorten your
teeth--
shorten
your life
And at night you
pray that
tomorrow won't come
