Just a Little. . .

Welcome to the "Just a Little. . . " edition of Mosaic Minds! We think we have a great issue this month, so I hope you'll agree.

Before I introduce some of my favorite articles, I wanted to take a few moments to brag a little about the fantastic and multi-talented staff that I'm privileged to work with. They are probably going to blush furiously and ask me why I was compelled to mention them, but too bad. I'm the big boss, whatever that means.

Like everyone who has been glued to the news these past two weeks, I've been horrified by the events in the Gulf Coast region. While I was sitting at home crying and making my donation to the Red Cross, our own Joyful Girl columnist was out plucking people from rooftops. Cyli is modest and says she was just doing her job, but I think she's a hero. We're proud of her.

We're also proud of our Slapdash columnist, Marie Lundgren. If you read Slapdash, you know she's a talented crafter and artist. She's taken her love of crafting to a whole new level and opened up her own little boutique! We're wishing her the biggest success in the world. She's just getting off the ground, but eventually you will be able to order things from her shop's website, Reebert Butik. If you ever happen to be in her neck of the woods, be sure to swing by and say hello!

And now for the real Mosaic Minds business: the writing. We've got some great articles for you this time. I've asked the staff to identify their very favorites, and they told me that they loved Janette Cole's article about her fall from grace. I think every woman can relate to her boyfriend who didn't really want a woman--he wanted a robot. I also really enjoyed Marian Klatt's Small Steps. She gives great advice on slowly acquiring new healthy habits.

Of course, we have lots of excellent poetry and prose in this issue, too. We especially liked Diatribe to Congress by Kelly Sharp. It's timely and reflects the feelings many Americans have right now. On a more lighthearted note, Simon Maslin brings us Stall, a great little short story that might make you think twice the next time you want to blare your horn in traffic.

We hope you enjoy all our offerings this month. We had fun putting this issue together.
